Scope and Contents
The papers document the career of Joan Roelofs, including her teaching at Keene State College, scholarship, professional affiliations, college and community service, and her activism. Dating from 1966 to 2021, the papers are contained in two clamshell boxes and divided into 13 series: Series 1 (General); Series 2 (Archives and Archival); Series 3 (Teaching); Series 4 (Greening Cities); Series 5 (Foundations and Public Policy); Series 6 (Interviews); Series 7 (Foreign Reposts and Reviews); Series 8 (Scholarly Affiliations); Series 9 (Service to College); Series 10 (Public Service); Series 11 (Retirement); Series 12 (Fourier and Considerant); and Series 13 (Other Publications and Presentations).

Biographical / Historical
Joan Roelofs is a political scientist, scholar and peace activist. She holds a Ph.D and M.A. from New York University in Political Science. Roelofts is Professor Emerita of Political Science at Keene State College, where she taught courses in green public adminsitration, the political power of foundations and the ideas of pre-Marxist socialist Charles Fourier from 1979 to 2012.
Roelof' publications include Greening Cities: Building Just, Sustainable Communities, and Foundations and Public Policy (1996), Trillion Dollar Silencer: Why There Is So Little Anti-War Protest in the United States (2022), Foundations and Public Policy: The Mask of Pluralism (2003), and Greening Cities (1996).
She is translator of Victor Considerant’s Principles of Socialism (2006), and with Shawn P. Wilbur, translated Considerant's The World War of Small Pastries (2015).
